Reasons I like the "If" Poem

.It makes me think
.It makes you re-evaluate yourself
.I like it because I dont quite get it all
.Makes you stop and see just how judgemental you are
.shows just how the world can be
.makes you know that no matter who you are or your status in the world, everyone is the same...eveyone is a person in this world
.shows the cynical side of things
.humbles a person

Holly, I like this poem too! Kipling has a way of coining phrases that really stick in the head. I really agree with you about the issue of being "judgmental" -- gosh, even today that was a problem for me in an email exchange I had with someone else at the university. There is a kind of manly detachment that Kipling seems to be aiming at here -- are passions and attachments OK, too??
